Nothing but the Truth (Theme)

I think that the theme of Nothing but the Truth is to stand up for what you believe in. The first example of the theme is when Philip Malloy thought that he should be able to sing the  National Anthem because the school wasn't letting him, so he made a big deal.  He made everyone all around the United States talk about how the school wasn't letting him sing the National Anthem.  Philip stold up for himself because he thought that it was the right thing to do.  Another example of the theme to stand up for yourself is when Mrs. Narwin thought that she should get the money for the conference.  She didn't give up until she was told that she did not need to go to the conference.  They told her no and she kept sending emails.  The last example of the lesson to stand up for themselves is when Philips's dad was getting yelled at by his boss by something he didn't do.  He did not stand up and he got blamed for something he didn't do.  If he did stand up for himself them he would have not gotten blamed.  After reading Nothing but the Truth I know that the theme of the story is to stand up for yourself.

Nothing but the Truth by Avi

Right now in book clubs I am reading Nothing but the Truth by Avi.  If I could meet any character in the book I would probably want to meet Mrs. Narwin, the language arts teacher.  I would want to meet Mrs. Narwin because she is very strong.
Mrs. Narwin is very strong becasue when she had asked for money from the school board for a conference and they said no she didn't freak out.  She was disappointed, but she didn't do anything that would make anyone mad.
Mrs. Narwin is also strong because Philip is telling everyone that she suspended him for singing the National Anthem and she doesn't freak out at all.  She has the whole world talking bad about her and sending her hate mail without them even knowing her side of the story and she dosen't break down at all.

My Favorite Character

My favorite character is probably Aria from the first Pretty Little Liars.  I really like Aria becasue she is very independant, strong, and caring.  She is very independant because she doesn't rely on other people to do her work for her.  Aria is really strong because she has had many issues and keeps going on.  Her first issue is that her best friend was missing/dead.  Her second issue is that she caught her dad cheating on her mom with one of his college students, and he told her to keep it a secret from her mom.  The last issue is that she is being threatened and harassed by this person/team that calles themself A.
Aria changed a lot from the beginning of the book to the end of the book.  In the beginning of the book Aria was very shy and friendless. Since Ali, her best friend had died, she was very depressed and wasn't looking for friends.  The friends she did have, from them all being friends with Ali, she ignored.  For example she would sit at lunch all alone so she doesn't have to sit with anyone.  As the books goes on all the groups of friends get closer because of their loss of their best friend and being harassed by A.  In the end of the book Aria is not shy anymore and is being caring for her friends.  She stands up for her friends and stands up to A.  For example when her friend, Hanna, had a fight with her friend, and Aria helped Hanna get through it and made her feel better.  Aria changed a lot from the beginning of the book to the end of the book.  In the beginning of the book she was shy and friendless and by the end of the book she would do anything to protect her friends.
